Troup Bywaters + Anders is one of the UK’s leading M & E firms with a 50 year history and a strong reputation for design and technical consultancy across a wide range of markets.
Operating as a building services engineers partnership, the firm works nationwide and across a wide range of sectors through numerous framework agreements and with an emphasis on whole-life services. It has around 200 staff based in seven offices including London, Leeds, Manchester, Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow and Edinburgh and works on public and private design projects, which include new build, refurbishment and fit-out. The firm has expanded its Cardiff office and in recent years has moved to new offices in Edinburgh and Manchester.
TB+A has a series of blue chip client clients including Marks & Spencer and Google. It supplied the M& E services – and the lighting – for Google’s offices in Victoria. Major notable commercial projects where the firm has worked include PZ Cussons’ new hq in Manchester and a new building for SJ Berwin in the City and at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. The firm has also worked on Deloitte’s London campus development strategy. TB+A also has framework agreements with RBS, Oracle, Skanska, HM Prison Service, Selfridges and Co., ICL Framework and Marks & Spencer. It has also worked on a longstanding basis with Imperial College, London and the University of Manchester.
In September 2021, TB+A was one of 112 firms to be appointed on the £120 million Fusion21 national Consultants Framework which aims to support over 100 public sector projects a year. It was added to the new ”facilities management consultancy” lot, and will provide bespoke advice and consultancy to a wide list of UK public sector organisations.
Under managing partner Peter Anderson, TB+A puts a premium on training and development and it was one of the first firms to be awarded the ”We Invest in People” IiP Platinum accreditation globally.
Meanwhile, at Cop 26, TB+A was one of 44 signatories of the World Green Building Council Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment, aiming to decarbonise further by 2030.

According to a league table of consultants compiled by Building magazine, TB+A ranked 56th in a survey of all building-related consultants with a fee income in 2013/14 of £12.3 million. In late summer 2020, TB+A was appointed as a professional services supplier to the Procure Partnerships Framework for all public sector works in a series of UK regions including: Yorkshire, North East, East of England, East Midlands, South Wales and the South West. Data from Glenigan point to a healthy flow of M & E work at TB + A across the country in the first half of 2022. They show that the firm is the M&E consultant on the £14.5 million Hospital CT and MRI Unit extension in Milton Keynes where work is starting in late summer 2022 and running for 16 months (Project ID: 20472058). Meanwhile, in London, TB+A is the M & E consultant on a £10.4 million office refurbishment at Devonshire Place for client Jane Street Capital where work is running until the end of 2022 (Project ID: 22197413).
