Henry Construction

Based in west London near Heathrow, Henry Construction has grown from a small civils contractor to a significant multi-disciplinary group with a blue chip client base and a significant repeat business and with a turnover of around £400 million.

Today, it works mainly in London and the South East on private and mixed residential schemes and for public associations and is also developing some hotels and student accommodation. In recent times, the company has also worked for clients on repeat business in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton and Brighton. Recent growth at the company has reflected both increased activity and the size of contracts Henry is working on.

As a medium-sized contractor with a strong track record, Henry puts an emphasis on having a strong direct skills base which enables it to provide around 50-70% of the trades on a project from its in-house team. Henry Construction Projects had around 49 employees in mid-2021, up from 39 a year previously.

Key sectors for Henry, whose main office is at Cranford in Middlesex, include residential, student accommodation, hotels, commercial, private rented sector (PRS),  social housing and RC Frame.

Meanwhile, the firm provides a wide range of services including pre-construction advice, new build, refurbishment, groundworks & piling, concrete frame and fit-out. It also offers numerous in-house services such as RC frame, window installation, floors & ceilings, groundwork, brickwork & facades, drywall lining, kitchens & bathrooms, cranes & scaffolding and piling.

In the group’s latest annual report published in May 2022, director Mark Henry said the outlook was positive and the firm’s order book was healthy.

Conclusion – a strong reputation in promising markets

Henry Construction has established a strong reputation in some promising markets across London and the South East which should leave it well-placed for further growth. The company’s track record on major private rental schemes and in social housing give the company exposure to what are likely to be two of the most resilient sectors during an uncertain period for the industry. Meanwhile its emphasis on providing skills in-house should help it secure repeat business and reinforce its links with major blue chip clients in the sector.
