BW Interiors

BW Interiors is a leading fit-out and refurbishment contractor which works mainly across London and the South East with a turnover on course to reach £220 million.

Founded in 2000, the company trades as BW Workplace Experts and key sectors where it operates include Cat A refurb, Cat B fit out, campus refurb, in-situ refurb, turnkey design and build and specialist laboratory refurbishment. The group works for numerous blue chip clients and around half of its turnover comes through repeat business.

The company put an emphasis on collaboration and on working with its preferred subcontractors, who help meet its aim of completing fit and refurbishment projects which are defect free. In 2021, the group’s £145 million turnover was split £125 million in London postcodes and £20 million outside.

Meanwhile, the group has overseas partnerships with HITT, one of the 100 largest general contractors in the US which provides a wide range of services and Shape, one of Australia’s largest fit-out and refurb specialists. Its network also includes tech companies, banks and small agencies.

In 2021, BW launched an agreement with Bulb Laboratories to jointly deliver research, innovation and manufacturing facilities in the science and tech sector. The venture aims to help meet demand from clients in the sector for flexible environments that also take account of automation and the rise of computational approaches.

BW chief executive Steven Elliott has previously worked with Overbury, Morgan Sindall’s fit out business,

In late May 2022, the company unveiled results for 2021, showing significant project delays had led to a reduced turnover in 2021. But the firm saw a good start to 2022 and said it was well-placed to continue to trade well and capitalise on a strong market. Having recruited 50 new staff, it was projecting £220 million turnover for the full year 2022.

Glenigan data

BW Interiors ranked at number 77 among the largest UK”s largest contractors in the year to September 2022, according to Glenigan data. It shows that BW was involved with 19 significant deals worth a total of £107.3 million.

Today, Glenigan data alsopoints to healthy current flow of work at BW Workplace Experts. The firm is the main contractor on a £10 million project of alterations for The Olayan Group at Hamilton Place involving the amalgamation of space in two addresses for office where work is set to run until spring 2023 (Project ID: 21484754). Conclusion: set to prosper in a resilient sector

As increasing numbers of businesses recognise that their existing office space needs to be reconfigured to meet the needs of a modern workforce – many of whom will be working from home – the outlook for BW Workplace Experts looks bright. As one of the leading players in the sector, the group has been adding to its order book and recruiting and taking advantage of a bouyant fit-out market – particularly in London. Recession may mean some more ambitious fit-out schemes are reined in but with a strong reputation, a good level of repeat business and a blue chip client list, BW Workplace looks set to continue prospering in what is likely to be one of the industry”s most resilient sectors.
