Pick Everard
Pick Everard is an independent, multi-professional consultancy operating across the built environment and supporting clients in areas which include project, cost and construction management, architectural, engineering and strategic services. The firm, which dates back to 1866, aims to provide a complete consultancy service for property and construction projects.
Headquartered in Leicester, Pick Everard employs over 600 staff through 15 offices spread across the UK and which include bases in Bury St Edmunds, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, London, Manchester and Nottingham. It opened a new office in Birmingham to service the West Midlands market in 2016. The firm has expanded into Yorkshire with a new office in Leeds and in spring 2022, the firm opened new offices in Sheffield and in Bristol city centre.
The group works on frameworks for blue chip clients such as National Grid, EDF, Royal Mail, Severn Trent and Wessex Water as well as numerous universities, particularly in the south. Its public sector frameworks include ESPO, the regional procurement organisation, the London Construction Programme, the Ministry of Justice and NHS Shared Business Services.
Major projects where it has worked recently include the major £50 million mixed-use development in Leicester”s Waterside area completed in early 2020 where Pick Everard provided a range of consultancy services. The firm also provided architecture, interior design and principal design services on a three-storey, healthcare training facility at Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus, which completed in spring 2022.
Together with Gleeds and AECOM, Pick Everard is one of three stakeholders which have formed Perfect Circle JV, a provider on the £350 million Scape Group framework to deliver professional services under the Built Environment framework for England, N.Ireland and Wales and which will run over four years from January 2021. In late 2020, Perfect Circle was also confirmed as the consultant on the £250 million Infrastructure framework over the same area.
One recent landmark project where Pick Everard worked as a consultant through the Perfect Circle jv was the new £5.4 million extension to the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke on Trent.
Financials
For the firm”s architect-related business, the latest 2021 edition of the AJ100 ranked Pick Everard 45th among UK architects and showed the firm employed 48 architects and that its architecture fees paid to UK offices were worth £9.05 million. No details of Pick Everard”s financial results appear to be available from Companies House. The accounts for PEKG Ltd. (Pick Everard”s previous name) are for a dormant company.
Operations
Pick Everard has a network of offices and has expanded both organically and via acquisitions, such as the 2007 takeover of Derby architectural practice Rothera Goodwin.
The firm works across a wide range of sectors including blue light, culture & heritage, custodial, defence, education, healthcare, industrial, local government & public sector, residential, retail, science & technology, sports & leisure, utilities & energy, water and workplace.
Meanwhile, services provided by the group include: architects, BIM consultants, building services engineers, building surveyors, civil engineers, cost consultants & quantity surveyors, environmental consultants, FM, health and safety, interior designer, landscape architecture, project managers, strategic development, structural engineers, sustainability & energy consultants and water engineers.
Pick Everard is a government procurement service supplier to the Project Management and Full Design Team Services framework agreement and is also on a number of other key framework agreements.
In spring 2022, Pick Everard provided architectural and design support along with mechanical, electric and project management services on a £3 million refurbishment of the Edmonton Library Housing Hub in north London, which was completed without closing the main site.
Also in spring 2022, the firm was re-appointed to the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation’s property, building and infrastructure advice & management services framework. The firm has also been appointed as a key supplier on architecture and design services of all of Surrey County Council’s upcoming major and education projects.
Pick Everard has also won places on two key Crown Commercial Service’s public sector frameworks, which should help it expand and diversify its service offering to the public sector. It has been appointed to two lots on the Management Consultancy Framework, covering business (lot 1) and environmental sustainability and socio-economic development (lot 9) under a framework agreement which will run for four years. It also has a place on lot 4 of the Estate Management Services framework, which runs for at least three years.
Meanwhile in late 2021, Pick Everard formed a new consortium with Wood which has been appointed to five of the six available lots on a major Crown Commercial Service public sector framework, the RM6165 Construction Professional Services framework; the UK’s largest public sector framework of its kind, worth up to £1.7bn.

Data from Glenigan highlights the varied workload at Pick Everard. It shows that the firm is the project manager on a £62 million scheme involving two agricultural research buildings at the James Hutton Institute Development in Dundee where work is set to run until 2024 (Project ID: 19438569). Glenigan data also shows that Pick Everard is the architect on a £3.5 million extension at The Kings School in Macclesfield where tenders are invited and work is set to start in late 2022 (Project ID: 22170028).
